Spent a few days in Moremi, the park is nice, but overall not worth the money being charged to enter and camp. The cheapest is South Gate $54 & Xakanaxa $54, even the Sankoyo Trust wanted $64, Third Bridge $80 (shared site). (Costs for two people & 1 4x4)

After reading a few of the guide books and reviews, we had the impression that this is a park not to be missed, the wildlife is prolific... Our expectations were high… and I guess the cost contributed to this…

For us we probably saw more wildlife in both the South African and Namibian parks, there are low numbers of Lion, Leopard, Hyenas, wild dogs, and the usual stuff but nothing stood out to make the park exceptional, apart from the stream of tourists in hire cars stuck in the sand and the high prices.

The campsites were basic, showers, fire pit, braii it does not look like any of the additional money collected by the private companies running the sites have gone to improve them in any way. We actually did not see any of the company’s staff on site, just people who work for the park. The costs for each site are around double what they were in 2013.

When trying to book a campsite in the park, we were told that every campsite was booked out for the next month, on arrival we were able to camp at South Gate and the Third Bridge, neither site was full.

On reflection, our total cost for 2 1/2 days was $192 + a tank of fuel, and probably worth being spent somewhere else. It’s a shame, the park without the high costs is worth seeing, but the profiteering of tourists in Botswana is awful…

Note: Park Permits can be obtained at the entrance gate, there is no need to obtain a permit in advance
