Having traveled on motorcycle through North and Central America for 14 months -- part of our travel experience was significantly enhanced by volunteering along the way. It's not always easy to find opportunities on your own and that are FREE!! We worked with http://dogoodasyougo.org/ who pairs overland travelers with volunteering opportunities while on the road. With the thousands of overlanders out there - WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Traveling long term, we didn't have extra $$ in the budget, but we did have the gift of time. We worked at boys and girls orphanages in Mexico, Mayan Families in Guatemala and also some food banks we found on our own.

Whether you're traveling through North or Central America, Africa, Asia or beyond -- they can connect you with partners to make your volunteering experience successful. We built friendships along the way and were overjoyed knowing we made a difference in lives/communities we would have not otherwise been in contact with.

So consider this -- as plan your routes, take some time explore what opportunities are out there and how you could intersect with one of these opportunities while traveling. Most people aren't aware of where they are or how to connect. Contact Do Good as You Go and let them help you achieve your volunteer goals.

I'm happy to chat with anyone who wants more info on our experience and you can also check out my blog at http://www.overlandnow.com/

Happy and safe travels!
