Typhoon Nepartak, a category 5 typhoon currently impacting Taiwan, is expected to make landfall in south-eastern China near Fujian province early on 9 July (local time). Strong wind, heavy rain and storm surges are expected. Transport links could be affected. Monitor local media for updates, follow the advice of local authorities and check with your travel provider or airline for information on any transport disruptions. The level of the advice has not changed. We continue to advise Australians to exercise normal safety precautions in China overall and to exercise a high degree of caution in Tibet and Xinjiang.
