Latest update: Summary – Hurricane Irma is forecast to bring hazardous sea and weather conditions to Cuba from around Thursday 7 September 2017; you should follow the advice of the local authorities and any orders given to evacuate to or remain in a place of safety. The Cuban government has three levels of warning before a hurricane: information, alert and alarm as the hurricane approaches. As of 11am 7 September the following provinces are in Alarm: Guatanamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguin, Las Tunas, Camaguey , Ciego de Avila. The Alert phase applies to Sancti Spiritus, Cienfuegos, Matanzas, Villa Clara with the exception of Caibarien municipality that will be in Alarm Phase. Havana, Mayabeque, Artemisa are in the Information phase. Tour operators, hotels and owners of casas particulares should be aware of the advice in place in each area
