Summary – from 26 September 2017, you won’t be able to buy and use Ethio Tel SIM cards in mobile devices that haven’t been purchased in Ethiopia or registered with the authorities. From 26 to 27 September, Meskel celebrations will take place; traffic will be extremely busy and many roads will be blocked. On 1 October, the Oromia region will celebrate Irreecha; you should avoid large gatherings and seek information from local authorities and contacts on where celebrations are planned and exercise caution accordingly
