Latest update: Summary - Ghana held presidential and parliamentary elections on 7 December 2016. The Electoral Commission have now declared an official result that has been accepted by all parties. Political marches and rallies are likely – including celebrations by the victorious New Patriotic Party (NPP). The situation is calm and there is no evidence of heightened post-electoral tensions. But you should be vigilant, avoid all rallies, any demonstrations, offices of political parties and buildings associated with the elections (including the Electoral Commission). You should monitor local media for up-to-date information and follow the advice of local authorities. Demonstrations in the capital Accra are normally well policed and peaceful, but sometimes they occur at short notice and can cause disruption.
