The State of Tamil Nadu is observing a seven day period of national mourning. All schools and colleges will remain closed until 8 December and local infrastructure could be affected. The British Deputy High Commission in Chennai was closed on 6 December as a mark of respect and resumed normal operations on 7 December 2016. If you are in or travelling around Tamil Nadu and especially Chennai give yourself extra time to reach your destinations.
