On 30 April 2016 protestors gained access to the International Zone (where the Embassy is located) and demonstrations occurred at the Parliament and Cabinet Office. While protestors left the International Zone on 1 May, further demonstrations may occur. You should monitor local media and avoid all protests and rallies as they can turn violent with little notice (see Safety and Security). We continue to advise against travel to all of Iraq, including Iraqi Kurdistan.
