Following a suspected militant attack on 5 June in Aktobe in northwestern Kazakhstan, there is an ongoing security operation in Aktobe to round up those responsible. A number of people have been killed and injured. If in the area, you should heed the advice of local authorities and remain indoors. The level of the advice has not changed. We continue to advise Australians to exercise normal safety precautions in Kazakhstan.
