On 28 June, a grenade attack was carried out by Islamic State (ISIL)-linked terrorists at a bar in Puchong, on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian Police have cautioned the attack could be the first of a series of attacks planned by the terrorist group in Malaysia (see Safety and security). You should be particularly vigilant at this time. The level of advice has not changed. We continue to advise Australians to reconsider the need to travel to the coastal region of eastern Sabah, and to exercise normal security precautions in Malaysia overall.
