Following events on 8 June 2016 relating to student protests, tensions remain high at university campuses across the country. Violence and damage to property has occurred at the University of PNG in Port Moresby and the University of Technology (Unitech) in Lae. As at 1 July 2016 the University of PNG and Unitech are subject to a 30 day curfew with a heavy police presence at both campuses. The level of our advice has not changed. We continue to advise Australians to exercise a high degree of caution in PNG. Higher levels apply in some parts of the country.
