Summary – a number of car-free days are likely to be introduced leading up to the Asian indoor and martial art games (AIMAG) from 17 to 27 September 2017; during AIMAG there will be severe disruption to Ashgabat’s road network, but buses and state taxis from the airport to the city will run normally; Entry requirements section (Visas) – there have been unconfirmed reports of stricter immigration checks, possible border closures to foreign visitors and denial of transit visas during the run up to AIMAG; the Turkmen authorities haven’t released any information about changes to entry requirements.
